Tips for maintaining your Carpet and more
If you're looking to add style and passion to your rooms then an oriental rug is one of the best ways to go. They might not come cheap but the colors they carry make them worth every penny. A good oriental rug will need some care to preserve its quality though and this is where most owners fall short. It isn't that hard though and as long as stains are removed early, you'll find that the top ways to protect your oriental rug are not that hard to follow. Ask your local Surprise Carpet Cleaners if they can help with your oriental rug.
1.) Protect it from the elements It might be the source of life on earth but the sun is your rug's mortal enemy. Sunlight causes the colors to fade and also weakens the fabric making your rug prone to breakage. You could prevent this by blocking any direct sunlight from hitting the carpet and cleaning it in a shade if it's ever taken out. When storing your rug make sure it's kept in a dry place. Damp places will cause mildew to grow on your rug which will discolor it making it even more unusable than if it had been left in the sunlight. Damp places are also a breeding ground for moths which will eat through your carpet and any other fabric stored with it. Mothballs should prevent your carpet from becoming a breeding ground for moths and if you want to go a step farther, as we recommend you should, use plastic wrapping when storing it. 2.) Prevent Tears Around the Edges The fringes are the easiest place for tears to start from and these tears spread at a scary pace when left unrepaired. If a chair's leg rests on the carpet, ensure that it's always moved by lifting it instead of dragging it on the edges. Leg covers are also used on the carpet to prevent marks forming where the legs were. If any tears happen, ensure they're repaired immediately and that they're done by a professional. Pets are also responsible for some tears around the edges as they sharpen their claws on the carpet and dogs are fond of pulling at the edges. Always ensure that the pets are kept off your rug. If the fringes tangle, then switch the rugs sides to allow them to untangle by themselves. Combing will only ruin them. 3.)Ensure it is clean How often do you clean your rug? Because regular cleaning is the simplest way to extend its life. Poor cleaning habits such as beating it with a stick to dust it will shorten its life while wiping it down will add to its life. Sand grains and dust scraping against it will wear it out quicker and frequent vacuums are needed to prevent this. if a pet relieves itself on your rug ensure that it is cleaned at once before it causes permanent discoloration and a smell no one wants near their feet. With that in mind, it shouldn't be too hard to take care of your carpet. Your oriental rug should be the center of your interior decoration. Hopefully, with these tips, it'll be one that lasts a lifetime.
