6 PROVEN TIPS TO KEEP YOUR CARPET FRESH
Truth be told. No one loves a messy house. Keeping your house clean relaxes your mind, helps you focus and what better place to start than your carpet. Regular maintenance of your carpet not only gives your house a fresh feel but also extends the carpet life. The good news is it's pretty simple. Follow along as we give you 6 easy tips to keep your carpet fresh and clean. 1. No shoes allowed in the house What is the essence of having the carpet there in the first place if you are just going to trudge in with dirty shoes? Keep shoes away from your carpet as they easily track in dirt from the outside. Have a shoe rack built so that visitors have a place to set their shoes upon entering the house. You can then go ahead and provide them with clean house slippers to wear if you want to go the extra mile. In fact, this helps reduce the wear and tear on your carpet since the slippers have far much softer treads than shoes. 2. Take care of stains immediately The more a stain is left untreated the more trouble you will have in removing it. Actually, some stains will be impossible to remove once they settle in. You should, therefore, clean any stain very quickly. Spray the stain with your chosen cleaner and gently blot the area. Note, scrubbing the stain may only serve to work the stain in deeper. Alternatively, avoid bringing the common sources of stain near the carpet. This is cliche but well, prevention is better than the cure. Items like wine and other beverages that are likely to soil the carpet should just be kept far away if you can. 3. Use Carpet protection This can be in form of rugs and runners that you put in areas that are most prone to getting dirty. For example, the area where your children normally play or the part of your carpet that receives the most foot traffic. Additionally, you can put rugs on all the exterior doors. You can then, wipe your feet before entering the house. 4. Vacuum on a regular basis Following the above steps does not mean that your carpet will not get dirty. You will, therefore, need to vacuum the carpet frequently. If vacuuming three times a week is proving hard for you at least strive to do it once per week. Invest in a great quality vacuum for efficient cleaning. Also, ensure regular maintenance of the vacuum to keep it in a great working condition. Replace the filters and bags often to ensures that the vacuum does not lose suction. 5. Use baking soda to have your carpet smelling fresh and for a longer time, use baking soda. Sprinkle a little of it just before you start vacuuming. Some people will recommend some other carpet powders to eliminate the bad scents but most of these will only leave residue in the carpet which damages it in the long run. 6. Deep clean When all is said and done nothing beats a deep clean when it comes to keeping your carpet clean. You can choose to call a professional like Surprise Carpet Cleaning Company. Just be sure to choose a reputable one. To do it yourself, simply hire a carpet cleaner and get to business. Be sure to use a good quality carpet cleaning solution though.
